Tyler scrounges together the audio that didn't implode when his recorder failed him to bring an account of the behind-the-scenes hilarity that made Otakon awesome this year. Also appearing here and there. in this episode with Tyler and Mike are Gerald Rathkolb, Daryl Surat, and Kara Dennison. Let's do this.Oh, and a shoutout to the Japanator crew, who I hung out with a couple times during the con, and who I was with for the EPIC late-night Bandai panel in which memories were made and serafuku were worn.Big props to Lucas Park, the musician behind Rangercast's brand new opening theme. WOOT. Here's the only video I really shot at the con. They're reading a letter from Baltimore mayor Sheila Dixon. As both a Charm City native and an otaku, the whole thing just made me laugh my ass off. Also, here's a Youtube video that man was not meant to see... Who the hell are those guys up there? >_> And I leave you with this epic moment of win. Next time on Rangercast: Episode 100, marking three years of kicking ass. It's gonna be a hell of a party.Edit: If this episode sounds like it was mixed *really* quiet, I know. I can't for the life of me figure out why, but I think I need to give Garage Band a good kick. Sorry about that.

This episode's so big, we did it in two parts. That and since there's no show next week (Tyler is going to be very busy the next couple weekends), we thought we'd do another part for episode discussion and other stuff that came up. So yeah.Part I- Tyler, Mike Manos, Mike Dent, and Ryan Tober handle Otakon hype. Er, Tyler and Mike Dent handle Otakon hype, since they're the ones going. We geek out over the schedule. Oh, and there's a Rangerboard gathering for all interested. Then we talk about Go-Onger, Kiva, and why PLEX makes us want to hurt things. Go-Onger is getting a Mastadon, Triceratops, T-Rex, and a Warrior Wheel clone Go-Roader. Yes, really. Ugh. Oh, and the logical follow up to the G-9, G-12 etc., is the G-Ï.Kamen Rider Den-O is still chugging along, despite its climax passing long ago (can you tell it's Tyler who's writing these show notes?). And Super 8 Ultra Brothers looks friggin' sweet.Part II- Tyler, Chris, Ryland, and Darrin deconstruct "Arise the Crystal Eyes." It's really quite tremendously awful. At least next time is the Spirit Rangers, where all is slated to be redeemed. Then, after some other news, we get serious. Maureen (Ivydraken, of Power Morphicon fame) is planning to put three autographed PMC banners up on eBay for Make-A-Wish Foundation sometime in the next weekish. The problem? There were originally four banners. What happened to the fourth banner? That's a long, mysterious tale. And again, please donate to the cancer drive. We have prizes. Seriously. As I write this I have two action figures sitting next to me, and one of them (plus another maybe) may be yours. It's for an awesome cause guys!Off to Otakon next weekend. Wish me luck.

Tyler discusses why we've been gone. It's been a long couple of weeks. Rangercast's been nominated for a Parsec Award for Best Fan Podcast. Hooray us. Tyler, Chris, Ryland, and Darrin review Dash for the Dagger and Race to the Nexus. Scab writers are still horrendously uneven. And by somebody's request, we talk about what we would want to see in a PR animated series. Continuity is fun. And for those paying attention, Otakon is coming up. Tyler's there. Are you? Guests at the con include Tony Oliver (writer, producer, Saba, PR's real daddy), Derek Stephen Prince (Auric The Conqueror, Elgar, various MOTD's), Richard Epcar (remember him?), and JAM Project (Garo, an unholy amount of anime, and individually, lots of toku). So yeah, be there. Also, Rangercast is doing a donation drive. No, not for us. For the American Cancer Society. Click our Paypal button over on the right and donate away, as much as you like, until the end of August. Everybody who donates $5 or more will be entered to win some prizes. So yeah, do it, because cancer really sucks. This episode of Rangercast is dedicated to the memory of James Waldman (1953-2008).

This episode was kind of booted out the door due to personal issues (Tyler is headed out of town for a family emergency...the episode was edited and these show notes were written while Tyler was on a cross-country flight). We got a voicemail from TheAvenger121 about a comment we made about "No I In Leader." Do the Zordon rules apply to the JF Rangers and Jungle Master Mode or its it just victim to the whims of Sentai footage and arbitrary decisions by writers? We talk up the latest PRJF episode, "Path of the Rhino." Fran falls in love, Dominic is pretty cool, and Casey still takes it in the face. How did it fare? Well now you'll just have to listen. And somewhere along the way Chris and Ry get sidetracked with Doctor Who and homoeroticism among Kalish-era Red Rangers. Also, with Rangercast's 100th episode a mere, uh, five episodes away (yay math), we're putting out the call. If you want to send congratulatory messages or just sound off in any way you feel like sounding off, call us up at 206-339-9419 and leave a message, or email us an audio file.Oh, and we've kind of noticed a shift in what we've been discussing, our statistics, and the number of *active* listeners (commenters, feedback,etc.). So we thought it would be interesting to throw this out there: What do YOU want to hear on Rangercast? Seriously, we don't do this show for our health or for our wallets (Ask Tyler). We do it for your enjoyment. You want more Toku? We can do that. You want Chris and Ry to go on for two hours about their Doctor Who's relevance in the PRU? Uhm, okay, we can do that. So just send us an email and let us know what's up.Also, as mentioned in the first paragraph, Tyler is currently out of town. While certainly, he's put up episodes from Los Angeles before (*cough*), due to family issues, that is pretty much not gonna happen. Therefore, RC will be taking a break for however long until he gets back to town. But don't worry, we have some kickass stuff planned to make the wait eventually worth it..
